Viticultural Practices: In 2012 the Krafuss vineyard was still
cultivated with integrated methods. Since 2013 the vineyard is
cultivated with biodynamic methods.
Grape variety: Pinot Noir
Description: medium intense ruby colour with a garnet
shimmer. Still somewhat closed, clean uplifted varietal aroma:
impressions of red berry fruit, cherries along with oak spice
(white pepper, cinnamon). Quite pronounced fl avour, mediumbodied.
Fresh fi nish with good length and a presence of spicy
tannin. Elegant style. This wine will drink well, when cellared
under proper conditions, for at least 4 to 6 years.

Origin: Krafuss estate vineyard in the village of Appiano/
Montagna at an altitude of 430 to 450 metres (1,410 – 1,480
feet) facing South-East. Loamy, gravelly soil, calcareous glacial
deposit. Cool mesoclimate. The vineyard was planted in 1991
with selected Pinot Noir clones at high density in a wire-trellis

Yield: 55 hl / ha
Vinifi cation: soft crushing and pressing of the grapes, spontaneous
fermentation and malolactic fermentation in stainless
steel tanks, maturation during twelve months in small oak
barrels of 225, 300 and 500 litres (French oak – Allier, Nevers,
Vosges – depending on the vintage up to 1/3 in new wood).
Alcohol: 14.0 % by vol.
Acidity: 5.1 g / litre
